Opened in October 2016, Villekulla Handmade is your local source for all things knitting, sewing & crochet in Calgary, Canada. We carry a broad range of yarns, fabric, notions and accessories. We welcome makers at any experience level.

Owner Christine Hamilton has a background in the fine arts and is passionate about needlework in all its forms with over thirty years experience in the fibre arts. Sunday, Oct. 20 12:30 – 3:00 pm
Chunky Cable Cowl: Learn to twist cables and knit in the round while making this speedy, bulky cowl. Cost: $60.

Saturday, Oct 26, 2:00 - 4:30 pm
Spiral Knit Hat: Learn this simple technique for jogless stripes while knitting either an elf hat or a classic round top toque. This technique also improves your result when alternating hand dyed skeins knit in the round. Cost $60.

Saturday, Oct. 26, Nov. 2, 9, 16 10:00 – 11:30 am
Kids Knit: Learn to knit classes for children 8 and up. Learn to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease and cast off while making kid friendly projects. Yarn and needles included. Cost: $125

Sunday, Nov. 10, 17, 24 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
Adult Beginner Knitting: Learn the basics of knitting either English style or Continental. Leftie friendly class! Yarn and needles included. Cost: $85.

Saturday Nov. 2, 16 12:30 - 2:00 pm
Fair Isle Hat: Learn to knit Fair Isle (stranded knitting) or improve your skills. Learn the secrets of even tension, colour selection, choosing which colour will be dominant and carrying yarn across the back of your work. Working at worsted gauge will give you a finished hat in time for Christmas gifting. Cost $75.

Saturday, Nov. 23, 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Top down switch: Learn to convert a bottom up yoked sweater into a top down pattern. We will use an Icelandic sweater pattern but the technique works for any bottom up sweater with a colourwork yoke. You will take away a pattern conversion and a blank form to use in future. You can use the formula again and again. No yarn provided. Cost: $50.

Saturday, Nov. 23, 2:00 – 4:00 pm
Sewn Christmas Stocking: This is a quick, easy project, even for a beginner. Just under 1m. of fabric is enough for 2 fully lined stockings. 15% off fabric and other supplies. Cost: $40
